Caleb (Blood) vs Jericho Cross (Darkwatch)

Welcome to the weird west kids. Now if you know me, then you think this is an odd mu to talk about since one of my most wanted MUs is Caleb vs Rick Taylor and it still is one of my most wanted mus, but this is a good alternative. The idea for this mu came to my mind when a friend asked me what I thought of Alucard vs Caleb. I thought it wasn’t great, the mu didn’t have much going other than both character’s looking similar, but I can’t say I don’t see the appeal. Caleb would be more suited to fight another gunslinger than a bare knuckle brawler like Rick. The problem is a fight with Alucard would focus more on his abilities than his skills with a firearm. So I offer you a better alternative, one that funnily enough also features a vampire

Connection

Like I said before, a fight can have surface level connection and still be good

Both are undead

Both are cowboys

Both are from fps

That it is all it is and it’s all it needs to be.

Animation

I think this battle should be a combination between the original doomguy vs master chief battle and a typical wild west shootout, taking advantage of the setting in which the fight takes place. Which makes sense considering Jericho has a shield that functions much like master chief’s and both fighters being cowboys.

Set Up

This is a simple one. Jericho works for Darkwatch, a group that hunts creatures of the night, like Caleb. So have Jericho walk into old town in the middle of the night. He enters a saloon where he finds Caleb sitting at the bar while countless dead bodies lie on the floor. Caleb takes a sip from a glass of red liquid that’s better than kool aid. Jericho pulls his gun out and Caleb say “I got time to play with you

Actual Fight

Like I said before, this fight would be a weird combo of Chief vs Guy and a wild west shootout. The fight would emphasize on the difference between the two fighters with things like Jericho trying to stay behind cover and Caleb strafing around the battlefield to overwhelm him with gunfire. There could be a moment where Caleb uses his leech life as a turret to distract Jericho or Caleb using his invisibility, only for Jericho to spot him with his thermal vision. There could even be a short sniper duel. Maybe even have a horde of the undead rise for the earth and attack both combatants. Something that I really think would be funny is Caleb setting Jericho on fire. The finale of the fight would also be epic Caleb using the fusion generator while Jericho desperately clings for life.

Banter

I think that despite only one of the characters in this match-up having a personality, I still think that banter could be great considering Caleb’s fun yet psychotic attitude. It would be nice to see some super serious character clash with someone who’s just enjoying the ensuing chaos. Maybe even have Jericho be disturbed by Caleb’s madness. I think it would kinda be funny for Caleb to set Jericho on fire and while he screams in pain, Caleb mockly says “When does the hurting stop

Plus death battle has contacts to the perfect voice actor for Caleb. Just listen to the original voice by Stephen Weyte and listen to Gianni. But I think a really epic line would be Caleb quoting another character voiced by Steven Weyte near the ending of the fight.

Music

As for the track, I think it should sound like something out of a western, while also sounding somewhat eerie and horrifying. Maybe it should take elements from blood’s main theme.

Who Would Win

Now I’m not too sure who wins between the two since I don’t know the stats, I can’t find anything on Jericho and Caleb’s vs wiki page changed. I wanna believe Caleb takes it because of his more destructive weaponry and being able to carry all his weapons as opposed to Jericho only able to carry 2 , but I think the victor of this really depends on which version of Jericho is used. You see there are 2 routes in Darkwatch, the good route and the evil route. The good route basically gives him more fire power, which I don’t think is enough against an opponent like Caleb, but the evil route makes Jericho more haxy, giving him stuff like soul stealing and the ability to control the undead. Assuming these abilities would work on Caleb, Jericho should win, but that depends on whether or not its canon. So if the good ending is canon, Caleb eats Jericho’s heart, bad ending canon Jericho eats Caleb’s soul.

Conclusion

We need to have a cowboy match-up and this is probably one of the better ones, enough capeshit death battle.

Otto’s Comments

Well, its never too late to learn something new.

Hats off to Karza, I had no idea about Darkwatch and Blood until his fight. Winner fights the guy from West of Dead?

We got a damn good theme here–two amoral undead cowboys ostensibly on the side of good but are probably just the lesser of two evils compared to those they fight. I to am on team Caleb, not only because his arsenal seems more impressive but because the guy is charismatic as Hell.  He is peak 90’s antihero. Caleb has fun being who he is without any of the whining and crying of lesser 90’s antiheroes.

No one knows what its like. To be the bad man. To be the sad man…

Yeah Caleb is a load of fun. He’s the Lobo of 90’s shooter protags. And I guess the Spawn/Crow would be…I don’t know, none of them really have enough story for that. Doomguy maybe, because he got upset over his bunny dying? He takes the crybaby crown sort of by default, but hey, thems the breaks.

By the way, who started the Undertaker “cowboy in a black duster and hat” look? How the hell did the Saint of Killers manage to avoid it? Even non-supernatural cowboys sometimes use the look like Reverend Ray in Call of Juarez.

Speaking of Call of Juarez, it’s OST provides exactly the kind of music this fight needs.

Speaking of Call of Juarez again, it was one hell of a game series and you need to go and play them (except the third one, it was trash), you spoiled brats and your sandbox westerns. “Oh look at Red Dead, it’s like GTA but with horses.” Yeah, but could you read the Bible to people to confuse them and then shoot them in the head in Red Dead? Of course not.

Speaking of Call of Juarez yet again, Reverend Ray vs Cole White from Gun is an absolutely kino match and on my to-do list.
