The FORBIDDEN Death Battle Prediction Blog: Episode 7

Batmobile Death Race Battle Royal

Well geez. I tune out of social media for a while and I just miss everything, don’t I?

What exactly are the rules here? I wish Death Battle was more forthcoming. Is this a DBX thing or will research be involved? What are the rules of the fight? Is it like Twisted Metal where all the cars are in a closed arena and try to kill each other? Is it like Death Race (the remake) where if you’re the last to cross a checkpoint your car gets nuked?

Well, let’s throw caution to the wind and see if I call it anyway!

Going by the pic, our cars are:

Batmobile 66’

The Tumbler (Nolanverse)

Arkham Bat-Tank

Batmobile 89’

Wave that checkered bat-flag, because here we go!

Batmobile 66’

Top Speed: Unknown. Uses a 390 V-8 with atomic engines and turbines (Atomic engines to power…turbines to speed) so it’s likely pretty fast. At the very least, it should be able to do

Assets:

–Driven by the best Batman

–Has a Robin

–Atomic powered engines and turbine

–Can perform a Bat-turn, a quick 180 degree turn, by deploying parachutes

–Bat-radar

–Rocket booster!

Weaponry:

–Bat-lasers, dual 450 watt lasers hidden in the lenses

–Bat-zooka (this is what the Robin is for)

–Bat-ray projector that can shut down a car’s engine with the power of Bat-science

–Bat-rockets hidden in the bat-grill

–Bat-battering ram, just like the 1940’s Batmobile

Defenses:

–Steel bat-armor

–Bulletproof bat-glass around the cockpit

–Bat-deflector that deflected a tracking signal so that some badguys that tried to find the batcave were sent to a fake batcave made in the middle of nowhere (god the 60’s Batman was great!).

Arkham Bat-tank

Arkham Bat-tank speed test:

https://arkhamcity.fandom.com/wiki/Batmobile

Top Speed: 164 mph with rocket booster (in game) 209 mph without rocket booster (going by the wiki)

Assets:

–Has a stealth mode so powerful that it’s shitty combat mechanics got past play testing

–A powerful CPU able to infect robotic drones with a virus

–EMP burst

Weaponry:

–While in “pursuit mode” (when its a car), can fire laser guided immobilizer missiles

–When it turns into a tank, it sacrifices speed for vulcan machine guns, a 60 mm gun, and electroshock that’s totally not lethal even though it sends minions flying through the air. It also comes with a missile barrage feature.

Defenses:

–Armor and sealed cockpit

Batmobile 89’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUPudZd3oI4

Top Speed: 329 mph with rocket booster

Assets:

–Still the coolest looking Batmobile after all these years

–Can enhance turning through two grappling hooks, one on each side

–Can enter bat-missile mode by firing off its sides which is useful to move through tight alley spaces

–Rocket booster!

Weaponry:

–Dual Browning M1919 machine guns (who says Batman doesn’t use guns?)

–Grenade dispensers.

–Dual disc launchers

Defenses:

–Bullet-proof armor with closed cockpit

–Can enter a “cocoon mode” where additional armor deploys over the entire vehicle at the cost of rendering it immobile. However, this armor is incredibly durable and withstood the vehicle’s own grenades exploding next to it.

–Oil slick and smoke screen weaponry

The Tumbler

https://batman.fandom.com/wiki/Tumbler

Top Speed: 160 mph with rocket booster

Assets:

–The front wheels can eject and form the Batpod

–Has a stealth mode where lights are turned off and the engine switches to electric power for a silent approach

–Can function even when flipped around (hence the name)

Weaponry:

–Dual machine guns

–Rocket launcher

–The front of the vehicle is so heavily armored it can be used as a ram

Defenses:

–Mine deployment

–Heavy armor and sealed cockpit

Who Wins

In terms of speed, we got a clear rank of Tumbler<Bat-tank<Batmobile ‘89 with Batmobile ‘66 being a wildcard. It’s a V-8 with an atomic engine and turbines. It could be as fast as a jet, but we don’t have any raw numbers.

The Tumbler is the Volnutt of this match. It’s too slow and too underpowered as fitting a batmobile from a series mired in quasi-realism.

So it comes down to the two batmobiles and the bat-tank. I think I got to give it to Batmobile ‘66. It’s got the best weapon in the bat-ray which can 1-hit KO any other car. On the other hand, it’s very lightly armored compared to the other batmobiles. That open cockpit means Batman and Robin can get taken out by explosions. But it’s fast enough to flank the bat-tank if it goes tank mode and the bat-deflector keeps it safe from the missile barrage and pursuit mode missiles as it can redirect the missile targeting. Meanwhile the ‘89 batmobile is capable of killing the ‘66 batmobile, but only if it gets a lucky shot to the cockpit. It’s far more likely it gets done in by the bat-zooka or bat-ray or bat-laser.

I’m putting my money on batmobile ‘66. It’s got the right combination of weaponry and speed to take this death race.
