Martin’s School Student Files

Adam Brigham, The Puppeteer

After developing an interest in telekinesis in middle school, Adam took telekinetic development when he enrolled in Martin’s and quickly proved himself highly capable. He is currently training to be a supporthero, a specific kind of superhero who uses his powers to assist and coordinate a superteam from a distance. His power manifests in the form of glowing hands that can grap, flick, or throw objects (and people) as he sees fit. He mentors under veteran supporthero Al Maxwell, the Grandmaster, who teaches him prestidigitation tricks so that by increasing his dexterity with his flesh and blood hands he increases his dexterity with his telekinetic hands. Adam is a disciplined student, but also something of a show-off, two qualities that have made him best friends with Matthew Roy, the Coat.

Alys Baker, Sand Queen

When her family was caught up in the Interway bombing of 2014, Alys was the only survivor. Her body fused with the ash and debris and became a quasimorph, an intelligence mapped through Odylic processes across a physical medium. She was made out of sand. Traumatized by the loss of her parents and body (she was a world-class gymnast who could now barely hold a semi-human form) and plagued by “quasimorph syndrome” which produces bouts of rage through neural-kinesthetic loops, she became a young supervillain attacking and harassing anyone she felt didn’t deserve the bodies they had. Eventually she was apprehended by Pearl “Percy” Adams, Aunt of Kimberly Adams and first female member of the Fishermen making her Fishergirl. The courts were very merciful to Alys in light of her circumstances and placed Percy as her parole officer and Percy’s mother Pauline as her therapist. Unfortunately, all the progress Alys made with Pauline was undone when she threw a car she thought was unoccupied during a tantrum. It wasn’t, and Alys was convicted of negligent homicide and imprisoned at O’Brian Island. Though she continued to see Pauline, it did her little good. She was convinced that she would never be more than a berserk danger to others and that she had better prepare herself for a long, immortal life of crime.

Being a relatively low-security prison, it was easy for supervillain Mr. Blue with his array of copied powers to sneak in and speak to Alys. He recruited her as one of his “students” by promising to bring her to a world (the Kingdom, specifically the Dagdan controlled portion) where she would be treated as familiar enough to fit in but exotic enough to stand out. It would be a world where no one remembered the car.

During a skirmish in the Willow-Wells universe, Martin’s teachers captured Sand Queen. Given that she was an accomplice of a multiversal criminal, that placed her fate in the hands of ARGO. Seeing through Willow Collins that Martin’s had a good record with children, the Commander placed in charge of the Mr. Blue Situation, John Victory, decided to turn Alys over to their care. What will become of her now is not clear. Alys seems to get along quite well with Martin’s students, particularly fellow quasimorph Amy Beck, she opens up to them like she used to for her therapist, but she is still technically a fugitive from justice with an unfinished sentence. Martin’s is negotiating with the criminal justice system to find a way for her to complete her sentence while being a student at Martin’s since that seems to be the best place for her.

Amy Beck, Heart of Gold

BOL supercriminals Bronze and Phase first tried to outdo the other as rivals, then when they teamed up against superhero Nemea they discovered a passion stronger than their mutual dislike. Falling madly in love, the two embarked on a joyride across America robbing whatever took their fancy. Between Bronze’s ability to control metals and Phase’s ability to alter her chemical phase, few security systems could withstand them. But they knew it couldn’t last. Everyone in the BOL knew that every supercriminal’s career comes to an end, it’s only a matter of

Monster

Monster is a young dragon from mystic Tiendi who fled to Earth and Martin’s to escape his parents who demanded he grow up and start producing scales. Young dragons are born without scales and can assume any form they wish, but as they get older they are expected to assume one permanent, adult form and lock themselves into this form through scales. Monster is now on speaking terms with his parents, though he still lives on campus. He’s an insufferable prankster who makes full use of his shapeshifting powers to vex teachers and students alike.

Tanya Abelman, Skychilde

When Tanya was a shy, frightened young girl, her metapathogen made every nightmare persist into morning. Every time she woke up, she had a new and uncontrollable power based on what she last dreamed. She was enrolled in TIMS where she met her best friend Donald Swift. Eventually, Mr. Neiros would make a breakthrough as her teacher and teach her to control her dreams so that no matter their contents, she could always fly in them. Flying in her dreams carried over into the waking world, and no matter what additional power she woke up with, she found that she could use her familiar flight power to get it under control. Tanya grew to be a brave and outgoing young woman who wants to help others as she herself has been helped. She is the captain of the school’s Flight Club and a long-term member of Night Club.

Tommy Taylor, Rock and Roll

After his father the Wave failed to prevent his supervillain archenemy Gravestone from his mother, Tommy lost all faith in superheroes. He saw his father crawl into a bottle and never come out, and though his grandmother tried to reign in his anger, it was too much. He took to vandalism and petty theft to vent his frustrations at the world and eventually wound up with power-limiting implants grafted to his spine through court order. He became Martin’s “bad boy” and used what little remained of his power to pick pockets and unlock doors.
